Frankie’s for Pasta; nice night for it

We had a gift card for Lettuce Entertain You restaurants. There’s thousands of them in the Chicagoland area. Where can you go for a good…whatever? Some are great like the Everest Room and some are not so great. I won’t say where. We just wanted a nice plate of pasta. I haven’t had pasta that much in the past year as I was trying to lose weight. I felt like I could handle it tonight. Frankie’s is in the Bloomingdale’s building on the near North side. It’s easy for us to get to. Let’s go! We went early for a drink in their lounge. It was a nice comfortable room with cushy leather chairs and couches. There were quite a few folks there but there was a nice couch in the back that wasn’t taken. Margie had a white wine and I had a Sapphire martini with bleu cheese olives. It was terrific. It was made all that much better that it wasn’t going to cost us anything!

After our drink we made our way to the dining room. This restaurant used to be another one called Tucci Bennuch. It was good but not great. Frankie’s is very similar to Tucci. The menu is pasta heavy with some grilled and baked items. It won’t blow you away but it will fill you up. Margie had chicken parmesan which she enjoyed very much. I had rigatoni with sausage and broccolini. The sauce was very good. Tomatoes coarsely chopped with roasted garlic and fresh basil made the chunky sauce enjoyable. The service was not very good though. It’s not that we didn’t get our food quickly and efficiently but the server had no personality at all. She did her job though. She brought us food. That’s it. And that’s fine. We had a very fun dinner with great conversation.

We looked up after dinner and saw the sky was alight with moonlight. Make each day worth living. It is great!
